Disparity

I happened upon this juxtaposition while waiting in the wings between films at the Canton Palace Theatre.  Someone shoved this ornate wooden chair up against this colorful tile wall.  I had to take a picture because it evoked a nostalgia in me for tetris and computer pixels on the one hand and the Black Forest of Germany and all the detritus of the old world that we cart from suburb to moving truck to bigger better suburb that reminds us that we come from something fancy and beatiful.  Something a little more ornate and spectacular than the pre-fab houses where we're now storing our big ostentatious memories of our ancestral past, on the other.
