Another Little Love Letter to 750 Words

750 Words is a website that encourages people to write by giving them space, a community, acknowledgements and a record of some of the things that their writing means.  This is another little love letter to them.

The spirit pegasus snuck up on me.  I've been counting down the days, honestly, until I get my next big one - the Pterodactyl  (coming so soon!) - and, same thing,  I was counting down the days til I my Turquoise Horse came trotting over the horizon (just happened this month!).  But somehow I hadn't realized that this Spirit Pegasus was even coming.  

I've been writing on this site for FIFTEEN YEARS on and off and mostly off (obviously given the badges I'm just now earning).  I always loved it but needed to retreat into a more private handwritten gestational period.  100 books of dreams later I decided to come back here in order to find the external motivation that I needed to actually write my novel.  I've been doing it now for a few months - doing mostly backstory, outlining, research, playing with my narrator's voice, solving problems and all of those things a second, a third, etc., times.  

And OUT OF NOWHERE came the Spirit Pegasus.  

This haunting, this prefiguration, this Christophany -- reminds me of something that happens to me most days that I"m writing:  the writing is going terribly or it's okay or it's a little of this a little of that but then all of the sudden I find my fingers flying across the letters, my own horsewings start to lift me and sometimes I even get chills.  The process itself makes me rise.  

Thanks 750 words for the help.  Thanks community for the accountability.  Thanks Pegasus for surprising the hell out of me and reminding me again of  how absolutely filthy rich you can be if you just accept that the best wealth you'll ever find is the wealth of hearing, seeing, saying and knowing more by writing.
